Summer 2019
On this beautiful summer day, I wanted to take a moment to say “thanks”. On July 1st, 57 teenagers piled off the buses for 10 days of adventure, friendship and fun, none of which would have been possible without your generosity.
The hot weather ensured our waterfront was bustling from dawn til dusk. Most campers swam before breakfast, throughout the day, and again to cool off each evening before crawling into bed. The water was a welcome break from the heat; and for our campers, more than half of whom were sponsored through Children’s Aid Societies or shelters, the freedom of splashing, playing and simply being themselves was priceless.
One of the many highlights of the session was stargazing. Campers were in awe at the amount of stars over Lake Scugog, and one night several cabin-groups lay on the dock to take them in after a busy day of fun. It’s quiet moments like these – when campers are able to enjoy the splendour of the natural world, share their highs and lows of the day, and feel totally at peace with themselves – that continue to delight me after being here for more than 35 years.
Our Teen Camp campers have now gone home, and a new group is here. It’s our Mom’s and Kids Camp, and we’ve got 20 moms with their kids aged 0-16. The scenery looks very different now as we’ve got quite a few toddlers giggling in the park, splashing in the water, and playing make-beleive.
I’ve included a few pictures here so you can get a small taste of the fun, but if you’d like to see the rest of the summer as it unfolds, please check us out on Facebook or Instagram.
Thank you again, I’m so appreciative of your support!
Yours in camping,
